UoB Holds the First International Conference on Chemistry on Wednesday 

  

With the participation of a large number of professors from the University of Bahrain (UoB) and international universities, and members of research centers, specialists and people interested in various fields of environmental sciences, the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science at UoB will hold the activities of the First International Conference on Chemistry under the slogan: “Modern Trends in Environmental Chemistry”, on Wednesday (23 June 2021), and over two consecutive days. 

The Conference will be held under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, and it will be a remote conference over the Microsoft Teams platform. The Conference’s objective is to shed light on the latest theoretical and applied scientific developments in the fields of environmental chemistry, and it will provide a multidisciplinary platform for academics and industrial researchers to present and discuss the latest developments, trends and concerns related to chemistry and the environment, as well as practical challenges and solutions in the field of environmental chemistry. 

The scientific sessions of the conference are scheduled to address a set of reference lectures, including several axes, including environmental pollution and its impact on health, water purification and industrial wastewater treatment, methods of combating air pollution, biodegradable plastics, environmental erosion control systems, and nanotechnology to produce environmentally friendly materials. 

Participants in the Conference include the Professor of Physical Chemistry Dr. Mohammed Saleem Akhtar, Professor of Analytical Chemistry Dr. Ayman Helmy Kamel, Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hefnawy, and Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry Dr. Ahmed Abdulfattah Maamoun from the College of Science at UoB. In addition to the Professor of Microbiology and Environmental Biotechnology from the Arabian Gulf University, Dr. Wael Al-Maslamani. 

While speakers at the Conference will include Dr. Ammar Saleem from the National Center for Monitoring Environmental Compliance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Professor of Analytical Chemistry at Jeddah University in Saudi Arabia Dr. Amro Yaqoot, Professor of Environmental Sciences at the College of Science at Alexandria University in the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Ebrahim Hassan, Professor of Environmental Sciences From the College of Science at Alexandria University in the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Manal Fawzi, Professor of Environmental Pollution and Director of Jobs and Graduates of the Master’s Degree in Environmental Technology – Center for Environmental Policy – at the Imperial College in London in the United Kingdom Dr. Sandra Andrew, Professor of Environmental Health Sciences at the Health Research Center in New York in the United States Haidar Al-Khawaja, Professor of Environmentally Degradable Polymers at the National Research Center in Italy Dr. Mario Malinconico, Professor of Materials Science at Alexandria University in the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Sherif Hussain Qandeel, Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Shanghai University of Science and Technology in China Dr. Wei Li, and Professor of Applied Chemistry at the Huaiyin Institute of Technology in China Nisar Ali.
