UOB Hosts AFED To Launch the 12th Report On “Environmental Education”
Under the patronage of University President Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, and in cooperation with the Arab Gulf University, the University of Bahrain (UOB) hosted the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED) at its headquarters on Monday, 24 February 2020, in order to present the results of its twelfth report entitled “Environmental Education for Sustainable Development in Arab Countriesâ€.
The meeting had the participation of a group of official and civil authorities, specialists, professors and students, and especially students of master’s and PhD programs in environment and sustainable development at UOB.
The University President welcomed convening at UOB, which was ranked 213 in the world and 66 in the Arab world, according to the Times Higher Education Foundation, and it is worth noting that Dr. Hamzah has participated in writing the chapter on environmental education in Arab universities.
The Secretary General of AFED, Najib Sa’ab, gave a comprehensive presentation of the findings and recommendations of the Report on Environmental Education in Arab Countries, in addition to the proposed university course for first-year students entitled “Introduction to the Environment and Sustainable Developmentâ€, which aims to introduce the environment and sustainable development to students who intend to choose specializations related to the environment. While Dr. Mohammed Al-Hilo, Dean of the College of Science in UOB, had a rich discussion on the findings of the report and the course.
