UoB Inaugurates Business Incubator Center in Sakhir

News 29 03 2018 1dProf. Riyad Y. Hamza, President of the University of Bahrain, has inaugurated the Business Incubator Center in a ceremony held on Wednesday, 28 March 2018, at the 

Zain e-Learning Center in Sakhir.

Prof. Hamzah congratulated everyone who contributed to the establishment of the Center. He said that by reducing dependency on traditional jobs offered by institutions, ministries and companies, this Center would help students, employees and the University partners in their progression up the career ladders. “Today, we are all celebrating this Center, which witnesses the birth of private projects that are based on sound scientific and administrative foundations to help shape a bright future full of ambitions, achievements and innovations for entrepreneurs,” he added.

Dr. Issam Mohammed Janahi, Director of the Business Incubator Center at the University of Bahrain, referred to statistics that reflect the reality of students after graduation. He pointed out that 24% were self-employed. However, a large percentage of students had dreams and ambitions to set up their own businesses, but they could not for many reasons. They did not where and how to start.

Dr. Janahi said that the Business Incubator Center at the University of Bahrain creates an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and enterprise by providing the financial recourses and logistical support needed, including finding the place to start a business and providing mentors and specialists to guide and support new entrepreneurs.

News 29 03 2018 1bMr. Joseph Huse, Founding Principal of Newton Legal Group, said that the talented students in the Kingdom of Bahrain can offer so much to the world of enterprise and entrepreneurship. He hoped that the partnership between the University of Bahrain and the Newton Legal Group which provide consultancy and training for entrepreneurs, would encourage private universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain to follow the example of the University of Bahrain by establishing business incubator centers to support students.

“For dreams to turn into reality, projects and ideas have to follow the right steps. There must be challenges and obstacles that are worth the risk of investing in human recourses,” said Professor Olis Nelson, a professor of marketing and entrepreneurship at the College of Industrial Management at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).News 29 03 2018 1a

Ahmed Abdulwahab Al Shuway, Mahmoud Majid Mohammed and Khalifa Adnan Shweiter talked about their personal experiences in entrepreneurship with the support and cooperation of the Business Incubator Center at the University of Bahrain, stressing that the unlimited support of the university, which has pushed them confidently towards a new world and crystallized their ideas into a practical reality, laid the foundations for their future career.
