UoB Is Preparing for the Coming Academic Year Comprehensive Tenders for Air Conditioning and the Maintenance of Buildings and Facilities

The University of Bahrain (UOB) has made great strides towards preparing for the coming academic year (2022/2023), by reaching an agreement, among others, with government agencies in preparation for the start of the academic year.
The President of UoB, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, has formed a committee headed by the Vice President for Information Technology Services, Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Osama Abdullah Al-Jowder, to study all the requirements of the summer semester, and the reception of all students in the first semester of the next academic year.
In this context, the University President stated: “We have done extensive and continuous work, characterized by cooperation and integration with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, and the Tender Board, to launch a tender for the purchase, repair and maintenance of air conditioners in all the University buildings in its three campuses (Sakhir, Isa Town and Salmaniya), and work will be carried out in the near future so that the air-conditioning devices are highly efficient in all buildings.”
Also, on behalf of UoB, Dr. Al-Mudhahki extended her thanks the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and the Tender Board for their understanding, cooperation and expediting the procedures in order to reach the completion of the basic work related to tenders in record time.
On the same level, she said that cooperation exists and continues with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, in matters of maintenance and construction, in preparation for the coming academic year, as the first phase of maintenance of restrooms has been completed, and work is underway to implement the second phase, followed by the third phase of maintenance and rehabilitation of more than 255 restrooms in the three headquarters, in addition to classrooms, rest areas, prayer rooms, shops and cafeterias.
Moreover, the President of UoB explained that in the context of returning to study at the University after about two and a half academic years (since the beginning of the second semester of the university year 2019/2020), and the simple use of the University’s facilities, “as the shops and restaurants closed their doors due to the absence of students and employees working from home for a long period of time, and these parties today need evaluation and maintenance for those that need it.”
At the same time, the University and the Ministry are working on evaluating the parking lots for students and employees in general, as the evaluation of the maintenance work of the parking lots in the ground level in order to start working on it, while the student parking lots were surveyed, and plans were made to create new parking lots, as well as alternative plans in case of need to expand the car parking lots.
Meanwhile, the joint teams between UOB, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, and a number of other relevant official bodies continued to put the final touches on the project to establish the College of Engineering, taking the entrances and roads leading to it, and the other required facilities and services into account in order to build and operate it.
