UoB Leads Bahrain in QS World University Rankings 2018
Major Achievement in Academic and Employer Reputations
As the only university in the Kingdom of Bahrain to be ranked in the world’s 1000 top universities, UoB has ranked higher in the QS World University Rankings 2018.
UoB has also achieved progress in four of the six metrics used for evaluating university performance: Employer Reputation, Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, and International Faculty Ratio. It has ranked 411 globally in Employer Reputation.
Prof. Riyad Y. Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, remarked that this comes as a result of concerted efforts in the areas of learning outcomes, scientific research, creativity and innovation. The University’s ranking for this year reflects the development of the University, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Government’s action plan and initiatives, and the directives of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training. These undertakings have culminated in providing world-class education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Prof. Hamzah also praised the deep-rooted relation between the University and its partners in terms of linking academic programs and learning outcomes to the society’s needs.
The QS World University Rankings identify the leading universities in the world by conducting year-on-year comparisons to measure performance and achievements. As a higher education institution, UoB has been able to qualify for this ranking and to compete globally despite the influx of students and the fierce competition in the academic field between local and international universities.
Since the launch of the University of Bahrain’s Transformation Plan 2016 – 2021, the university has offered new academic programs, developed new regulations, invested in modern electronic platforms, focused more on scientific research and created partnership with employers.
