UoB President Receives the Winner of the “Excellence” Award in Chinese Language and Culture

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, received the student Siraj Mohsen Hussain, who won the “Excellence” prize in the 20th “Chinese Bridge” Competition for Chinese language and Culture for foreign university students, at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir, on Thursday (11 November 2021).
The University President congratulated the student on this achievement, noting the success of UoB in rehabilitating its students, raising their scientific and creative skills in their fields of specialization, and introducing them to global cultures and ancient civilizations, including the Chinese culture, as the University has hosted the Confucius Institute since 2014.
The 20th “Chinese Bridge” Competition was held from the 23rd of June to the 4th of July and was organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in which nine students from UoB participated through the Confucius Institute.
Through the Confucius Institute, the student Siraj Hussain (student in the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering at UoB) represented the Kingdom of Bahrain on the international stage to compete with 70,000 Chinese language learners from all over the world, and was able to win the “Excellence” prize in the final round of the “Chinese Bridge” Competition on (22 September 2021) among 125 winners representing 101 countries.
The “Chinese Bridge” Competition is an annual large-scale international competition that comes within the framework of the world’s cultural and educational exchanges between different countries, which is an important platform for university students, and it includes language proficiency and understanding the Chinese culture.
