UOB’s Business Incubator Introduces its Students to Intellectual Property Protection Methods

The founder and managing director of Mannai Tech and Evergo and member of (GDG) Manama, Khalifa Al-Mannai, called on novice entrepreneurs to be patient and slowdown in order to make profit off emerging projects, pointing to ways and methods of making the largest profit from commercial projects.

Al-Mannai reviewed his personal experience at the beginning of his establishment of his own projects, indicating that at the beginning of his establishment of one of his companies he found out the futility of the idea that he had planned for, which made it necessary to change it according to the need of the market and the clients’ interests.

This was during a remote meeting held by the Business Incubator Center at the University of Bahrain (UOB), as part of a summer program for students in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, in which a number of experts in various disciplines spoke, including Al-Mannai.

Also, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism participated with three speakers, namely: Nawaf Al-Majed, Sabah Al-Jalahma, and Hassan Awadh. During the meeting, they showed the students the journey of the commercial project from the moment of its establishment and obtaining the commercial register that allows them to start commercial activity, and they explained the conditions for obtaining those records and the difference between the traditional commercial register and virtual commercial register. Also, they showed students the services provided by the ministry to protect intellectual property, how to obtain that property, the time it takes to obtain it, and the financial costs.

Also, the owner of “Al-Majed Art”, Sayed Mohammed Al-Majed, spoke about the methods of designing logos and trademarks, the fundamentals of their design, and the methods of using them in promoting commercial projects.

While the founder of Axelerate Academy and 3D Speaking, Mohammed Issa, presented methods of attracting customers and pushing them to interact with the project without paying the costs of the marketing process, indicating simple and easy ways to make customers regulars at the project and to make them keep using its products.

For her part, Director of the Business Incubator Center, Dr. Esra Ahmed Wali, indicated that these meetings were held over a week, during which the students were able to prepare a marketing plan, explaining how to make profit and how to interact with customers.
