UoB Signs MoU with IBRAHIM K. KANOO B.S.C. ©

Hamzah, President of the University of Bahrain, welcomed the initiatives made by the public and private sectors to support UoB students, by giving them training opportunities in the workplaces and providing them with the necessary expertise for smooth integration in various fields in the future,

This came during the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Bahrain and IBRAHIM K. KANOO B.S.C. ©, on May 7.

The company was represented by the EBRAHIM K. KANOO Managing Director, Mr. Talal Fouad Kanoo, who expressed his satisfaction with the inputs and outputs of the University of Bahrain, especially the graduates of the College of Engineering who have the attributes and skills to get by in the workplace. He added that the Company last year offered an intensive training program to eight students and their performance was excellent.

Prof. Hamzah praised the company’s valuable initiative, pointing out that EBRAHIM K. KANOO as a well-known national company has already undertaken initiatives to serve the university and its students, hoping that there will be more partnerships with the private sector in all fields.

{modal images/News/2018/May/News-6-05-2018-3b.jpg}News 6 05 2018 3a{/modal}Mr. Talal Fouad Kanoo also stressed that Bahraini graduates are very ambitious and the moment they become part of any organization and assigned tasks and duties, they usually fulfill their duties. All national companies and institutions should provide those graduates with the opportunity to contribute towards promoting the society.

The MoU aims to provide full payment of tuition fees, books and a monthly stipend for eight to ten third and fourth year students from the Faculty of Engineering. The company will launch a program to recruit final year students in the various divisions of the company. The company will also support final year graduation projects of mechanical engineering students. A jury will be formed, and the winning projects will be awarded incentive financial prizes. The company will supply the Department of Mechanical Engineering with the equipment needed to train the students to ensure they are kept up to date on the latest equipment used in the labor market.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Wahib Issa Al Nasser, Vice President for Academic and Graduate Programs; Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, Dean of the College of Engineering; Dr. Bader Darwish Al Mannai, Head of Mechanical Engineering; and Mr. Ghassan Yousef Al Shehabi, Director of Media and Public Relations.
