UOB Student Participates in CERN’s Data Processing Hackathon

Abdulrahman Almarzouqi, a student from the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Bahrain, participated in the Patatrack Hackathon at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland. Over five days, developers, physicists, and software experts worked together to create high-performance solutions for data processing in particle physics.

Al-Marzooqi, a training student at “CERN”, also engaged in intense brainstorming and debugging sessions to develop new methods for accelerating CERN software modules on FPGA processors. He also explored ways to reduce processing costs and improve the performance portability of these modules using Intel’s oneAPI tools.
