UoB Wins First Place in the Capital Governorate Award for Voluntary Work 

The University of Bahrain (UoB) won first place at the level of educational institutions in the Capital Governorate Award for Voluntary Work 2020, which was during the honoring of the Governor of the Capital Governorate, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, of a total of 32 entities and individuals for their volunteering in the Capital Governorate’s programs during the past year, according to the six categories included in the Capital Governorate document for volunteer work on Thursday (1 April 2021). 

On this occasion, the President of UoB, Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, expressed the pleasure and pride of the University’s employees with this achievement and stressed that the UoB has the culture of volunteer work within its initiatives and plans to achieve sustainable development goals, and works to instill this culture in practice among the University students and affiliates in general, and encourages voluntary work in all national and community events. 

Prof.  Hamzah stated that the University’s victory in the first place is an additional achievement within the framework of the accomplishments of the University at the international, regional and local levels, and encouragement and support to continue to harness the scientific and practical capabilities to serve the Kingdom of Bahrain. 

The President of UoB extended his thanks and appreciation to the Governor of the Capital Governorate, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, for his efforts in consolidating the idea of ​​volunteer work and giving it the status of international accreditation. 

As the Director of the Media Center at UoB, Dr. Mazen Mohammed Ali received the first place award won by UoB in the ceremony of the second edition of the Capital Governorate Document for Voluntary Work. 

The Capital Governorate is the first government agency to succeed in legalizing volunteer work and giving it the status of international accreditation in cooperation with the United Nations Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain, coinciding with the Community Partnership and National Belonging Day.
