UoB’s Board of Trustees Holds its Nineteenth Session Meeting

Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, the University’s Board of Trustees held its nineteenth regular session meeting on Wednesday (26 January 2022), in the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Development Jameel Bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Aymen bin Tawfiq Almoayed, Chairman of the Civil Service Authority, Ahmed bin Zayed Al-Zayed, President of UoB, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, Director General of School Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Ahmed, CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer, and Dr. Mansoor Mohammed Sarhan.
The Chairman of the Council began the meeting by thanking Prof. Dr. Riyad Yousef Hamzah, the former president of UoB, for his efforts during his tenure as President of the University. Also, he congratulated Dr. Jawaher Al-Mudhahki for having the royal trust in her appointment as President of UoB, wishing her success in her duties.
Moreover, the Chairman of the Council briefed the audience on the results of his meeting with a number of cultural advisors at the embassies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the Kingdom of Bahrain, who welcomed the University’s initiative to introduce the second period system, which allows students to have evening classes.
Afterwards, the Council discussed many items on the agenda, including: the presentation made by the President of the University on the progress of UoB during the past year, the most important points on which the work of the university is based for the coming period, the development projects set for implementation, as well as the progress of the introduction of new academic programs during the second semester 2021/2022, including the second period (evening) programs, which will provide the opportunity for students who wish to join the university and complete their education.
Also, the Council was informed of the progress of current and upcoming development projects at the University.
Furthermore, the Board of Trustees approved a proposal submitted by the President of the University to establish a center for engineering consultancy and to follow up on projects at UoB, as a training and advisory body, which undertakes the engineering supervision and follow-up of the University’s construction and development projects, the most important of which is the construction of the College of Engineering building and other projects.
