Within a Series of Meetings with All Colleges and Departments.. The President of UoB Meets with the College of Science Affiliates and Stresses the Importance of Their Development Proposals

On Tuesday (April 26, 2020), the President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, met with the academics and administrators of the College of Science in an open meeting, which was held in the E-Learning Center Hall at the University Campus in Sakhir.
The President of the University welcomed the College’s members, including academics and administrators, stressing their active and pivotal role in providing the labor market with qualified graduates who keep pace with the latest scientific developments. Pointing out that the College of Science has recorded the highest rates of scientific research, which are cited in international search engines. Also, she praised the scientific, research, teaching and student expertise and energies that the College embraces.
During the meeting, a number of academics stated their suggestions for developing the level of performance and work in the College, presenting a number of ideas that would further advance the academic and administrative work, and the continuous improvement in the level of College outputs, in addition to scientific research and publication in refereed scientific journals, and enhancing the educational and learning process in the College and the University as a whole.
Moreover, the President of the University, along with the Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Ansari, the Vice President for Information Technology, Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Osama Abdullah Al-Jowder, the Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Reda Qadir, the Dean of the College of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Hilo participated in answering the questions of the faculty members.
Dr. Al-Mudhahki stressed the importance of meeting the University’s affiliates, and the importance of all ideas that may be presented, which aim to develop work at all levels, and fill any gaps that could impede such development, and she stated that everything that took place in the meeting will be within the agenda of development and improvement, and to be benefitted from to continue promoting work at UoB.
The College of Science includes 80 full-time and part-time faculty members, covering all disciplines, and the number of students enrolled in the college is about 1,800 students, of whom 130 are in postgraduate programs.
The College includes six bachelor’s programs: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research, Actuarial Science and Physics. As for the postgraduate programs, the College offers one program at the higher diploma level in weather forecasting, offered in cooperation with the Meteorological Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and it has seven master’s programs: Mathematics, Environment and Sustainable Development, Applied Physics, Nutrition and Dietetics, Biological Sciences, Big Data Science and Analysis offered in cooperation with the College of Information Technology and Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, and the Environmental Chemistry Program. In addition to one PhD program in Environment and Sustainable Development.
Also, the President of the University, Dr. Al-Mudhahki, has met with members of the Colleges of Health and Sports Sciences, Business Administration, and Arts over the past weeks.
